Not the typical type of stuff that I usually post on my blog, but this is seriously a great underground, obscure & heavy gem. Heavy psych people go nuts for this stuff. Its the type of stuff I've been collecting lately...1972 is the magic year.
This LP came out in around 1972, and featured two members of AtomicRooster, and has a rumored Capt Beyond connection as well. This stuff is all over the board musically, but typically is pretty proto metal. This is heavy, gritty and dirty. Its very ahead of its time. You can hear influences from everything from Black Sabbath, to Bowie, to Skynyrd. Don't let those influences scare you off to this one, this is heavy. My favorite song on here is "Time Gambler".
Unfortunately I didn't grow up listening to these guys, or even knowing how classic they were until my friend Jamie Double Decker turned me on to them. I ended up paying good money for the vinyl. The band released a second LP that wasn't half as good as this debut.

  2. Yes, great album. The band was mainly the work of Atomic Rooster dude, John DuCann. He had another band with these same folks called Daemon, equally ruling stuff.

  4. Seriously one of my faves from this time period. Right up there with UFO2, LordBaltimore, LucifersFriend. etc. If you dig this, search out that stuff as well.

  13. Loud, hard and live-sounding...THIS is what a heavy rock band should sound like. Two small things about this LP: Al Shaw was their co-lead vocalist but left before this was released and didn't receive any credit on the album cover. The "Entrance To Hell" CD by Daemon is nothing but a collection of alternate mixes, outtakes and jams from the LP sessions (I used to have that CD, thinking I was getting something cool, but the LP mixes are way better than what's on there).

  16. I learned to play Time gambler on my new 1972 Gibson Les Paul"gold metal flake" in under two weeks. I did Sinister minister in about the same time frame. I was 20 then and it all came so easy.Playing by repetition and ear only. Now i couldn't play it if i had sheet music! I may be too old,but this album remains in sync. These riffs and lines are a perfect example of Brit hard Rock in the early 1970's.
A damn shame they didn't keep it up. They had the talent to make it in the USA and be all they could be.
    Peace.
