I actually worked in a record store he co-owned in the mid-late '90s. I have this memory of Dan bringing up a VHS copy of a DC/Virginia community center show with Kids for Cash and Mission Impossible, I think. Good times.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1454171671561049999.post-10705313179303455072008-08-17T02:07:00.000-04:002008-08-17T02:07:00.000-04:00Sohrabget at me via e mail @ cryptocomx@aol.comi'd...Sohrab

get at me via e mail @ cryptocomx@aol.com
i'd love to converse through e mail.

I live in Midwood Brklyn

Nategloom666https://www.blogger.com/profile/04157933402871486578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1454171671561049999.post-16026608562849002582008-08-17T01:30:00.000-04:002008-08-17T01:30:00.000-04:00hey nate,earlier tonight i found a CD that has the...hey nate,

earlier tonight i found a CD that has the first KFC tape on it.

i'd forgotten that Chris Bonner, our original drummer, had burned me a copy about 6 years ago.

i've no idea what the quality of the 7 songs is like, but i'd be happy to make mp3s and send them your way.

if you're interested, just give me an email address or ftp info where i can post the stuff.

cheers,
-sohrab.sohrabhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03011554060864076118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1454171671561049999.post-69527933611794465742008-08-15T01:47:00.000-04:002008-08-15T01:47:00.000-04:00hey nate, the other KFC folks and i are long out of...hey nate,

the other KFC folks and i are long out of touch. i did hear from Dan, the bass player, about 2 years ago and he told me that he edits a weekly paper in Columbia, SC. he seemed pretty happy, so i assume he's still there.

i live with my wife and our young son in Brooklyn, NY, where i make music and do graphic design work.

Michael Hampton, the guitar player from SOA, the Faith and Embrace, lives around the corner from me and we collaborate on soundtracks together. indie films, pbs documentaries, etc. we are also working on a record with Scott McCloud and Alexis Fleisig, who were in Lünch Meat, Soulside and GvsB.

in October Eli Janney, another member of Girls Against Boys, and Geoff Sanoff, who i played with in a 90s indie rock band called Edsel, are recording an album by my new band, Obits, that we're doing for Sub Pop. the other guitar player in our group is Rick Froberg, who was in Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes.

anyway, thanks for indulging this biographical rambling. without running on much more, i will say that somewhere there is a Kids For Cash cassette floating around that predated the 7" -- if i find it, i will be sure to digitize it and get you a copy.

cheers,
-sohrab.

p.s. comical footnote: Dave Grohl played drums in KFC very briefly and i have a very distinct memory of a show i put on at a suburban Virginia community center, where we opened for 7 Seconds, and how thunderstruck those guys were by his totally manic and fierce pounding.sohrabhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03011554060864076118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1454171671561049999.post-84517989440599104702008-08-13T22:20:00.000-04:002008-08-13T22:20:00.000-04:00Sohrabthanks for writing in the comment section. ...Sohrab

thanks for writing in the comment section. His singing style was really snarlin and heavy. The band played some really tight music too. It really stood out from the other hardcore bands. Good shit man and thanks for putting this one up.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12338889521404134943noreply@blogger.com
