Agothocles are a political grindcore band who started in around 1986 in the country of Belgium. The band are pretty much known for putting out way to many records(there are more then 100). The catalog is seriously untouchable when it comes to the amount records they have put out. I tried to keep up in the early days when there wern't ten million grind bands playing the same old crap. I lost interest in them in around 1992.
This features two LP's...The first is a really old line up with Erwin on drums. He was the Original drummer, who later went on to play bass in the band.
This stuff makes me think of my days in Albany, hanging with my pals Devon, John Moran, and Mark Telfian. This type of stuff would be the sound track to many of our road trips, and had a small influence on what we wanted to do musically.

  1. the first part of this is from their split LP w/ Drudge, right?? i have this somewhere (the split). One of the craziest guitar sounds ive ever heard - even more strange than the Unseen Terro rrecord. i'm with you about their discography - its scope is good for a laugh, but for me the bulk of what i remember liking were the split LPs and 7"s from around '90/91.

  3. Thanks for this incredible blog! Grabbed a bunch of stuff already. Pretty weak area I live in as far as decent vinyl shops go, so this is nice. Plus, when I ever get to a decent music store I'll know what the fuck to buy! Oh, and I did the art for TH/Death Master, cool seeing that here, and you're totally right about Joel being a good dude. Anyway, thanks again, and keep it up!

  4. I, too, gave up on AG after 25 or 30 records. Just could not keep up and they all kind of sounded the same. I feel that they put good effort into the LPs (especially Razor sharp Daggers) but the 7"s were a lot of toss-off material.
