ANTI-Defy the System LP(1983)

1.I try
2.lies
3.your governments calling you
4.working in a factory
5.maps of the stars homes
6.your problems
7.five downtown
8.nothing new
9.club me like a baby seal
10.backfire bomber
11.be free
12.overthrow the government
13.parents of punks
14.repressed Aggression

I haven't listened to this LP in a really long time.  I originally bought it at the Record Vault on Polk street in San Fransisco in around 1985 or 1986.  I had no idea what they sounded like, but was told I should buy it by Andy Airborne who sang for Attitude Adjustment at the time.  He worked at the shop on weekends, and told me Anti were a heavy influence on Attitude Adjustment.  I was sold on that and the art work.  Upon getting back to my apartment to listen to the LP I was somewhat disappointed by what I heard.  The band played a more mid paced punk style rather then the thrashy HC that I was sorta expecting.  I'd say if you crossed the Circle Jerks with Adolescents you'd understand the sound I'm talking about.  The sound has def grown on me.  Its melodic as hell punk, with snotty vocals, and kick ass catchy guitar solos that make me happy when hearing this.  Still not sure if Andy was fucking with me or not...but I sorta think the bands politics and punk attitude might have had a influence on AA.  I did take a lot of his recommendations, and most panned out and kept me a happy little thrasher.  The band was from L.A., and with this release have nailed the L.A. punk sound.

WOLFPACK s/t LP(1988)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
1.black mark
2.stood up
3.bustin' out
4.suicide
5.rich life
6.pack of one
7.pride of the pack
8.black book of hell
9.wolfpack

The band was always known as Wolfpack to us.  When the record came out for what I guess were legal reasons they had to add NY at the beginning of the name.  Silly.  Regardless, This record is an important part of Albany NY punk/hardcore history.  These guys were really the first Albany hc band that I can recall buying a LP from.  I think the first Albany NY hc band to actually have an LP come out at all.  I'd seen these guys a couple of times, but never with the vocalist on this record(Steve Reddy).  There were two other vocalist in this band through out its short life.  Early on they really sounded a lot like...you guessed it, DYS(duh...Wolfpack).  I actually wasn't much of a fan of this record when it initially came out.  I guess it took me years to appreciate it.  I think what I loved most about the record was the back cover photo of the band hanging out near some huge Wolfpack Graffiti that was painted on parking lot wall at Worlds Records.  This graffiti remained there for over a decade.  It was Albany...
It really hit me when I drove by and noticed that they had covered it up with "proper" paint years later.  Everytime I'm in the area and drive by I half expect to see it when I glance in that direction.
Steve Reddy of course went on to create Equal Vision Records.  He and Dave Stein would put on the best hc shows ever back in the 80's.  Albany was hit by everyone that was touring back then.

OUR GANG-uprising LP

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

1.In Anger (Rejected)
2.My Tomorrow
3.Get With It
4.Energy
5.Out Of Hand
6.Something To Say
7.Not Against You
8.Without A Home
9.A Part Of Me
10.A Time To Fight
11.Broken Roads
12.No Motive
13.Penguin Romp
14.Song A
15.Gone Through
16.Viewpoint

I saw Our Gang in around 1989 by accident at the Anthrax in CT.  A bunch of my Albany friends and myself made the 2.5 hour trek out there to see/support our local friends No Outlet who were also on the bill. I recall being blown away by O.G., and until the last few years never realized they were from the NYC borough of Staten Island. Oddly enough Our Gang never released a proper record back in the day. Members went on to play in Citizen's Arrest, Born Against, etc.
A few years ago my friend Charles and I started talking about how much we thought they needed a proper release. Charles knew some of those guys and got in touch, and asked them if they'd do a discography record with us. They were into it, and months later the LP came out on our label Jack Roy Records. Here is a proper rip of a proper record. The LP contains both the 1988 and 89 demo's both recorded at Don Fury's. If you need an actual copy, get at me, I have a few left.

SAVAGE -loose 'n lethal LP(1983)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

1.Let it loose
2.cry wolf
3.Berlin
4.dirty money
5.ain't no fit place
6.on the rocks
7.the China run
8.white hot

This is one of my favorite NWOBHM records ever. These guys were of course from England, and put out a demo and few other records before recording this classic for Ebony Records. The guitar tone on this record is awesomely blown out. The production reminds me of Merciful Fates Mellisa(although the music sounds NOTHING at all like it). This is just seriously perfect production for a metal record. The LP reminds me of the first two Def Leppard records or Dark Stars lady of mars. By side b I'm even hearing some Scorps & Riot. Another record I think that I probably bought solely based on the content of the record cover, and maybe the band name. I recall being stoked on the how catchy, yet still heavy and rockin'this sounded to me when I first heard "let it loose".

sorry, Dead link for now  http://www.mediafire.com/?hexi6ypvv6e47vz

Berlin
It’s getting dark, too dark to see
The streets run cold with anarchy
Troopers came and all was lost
Mass slaughter, human holocaust

Fire over Berlin
Nobody’s safe
No escape when metal rain starts falling
Berlin, it’s all too late

Thirty nine, machines of war
Cross frontier lines the eagle roars
Allied forces and Berlin falls
Razed to the ground, now the spoils

Fire over Berlin
Nobody’s safe
No escape when metal rain starts falling
Berlin, it’s all too late

Too too much complacency
Too afraid to face reality
East to west the Berlin Wall
Thin red line from nuclear holocaust

2. Shot Dead
3. Long In The Tooth
4. Another Empty Nothing
5. What You Deserve
6. Pull The Trigger
7. No Point
8. Watch You Die A Sick Death
9. Hacked To Pieces
10.Falling Apart
11.Faster To Nowhere
12.Last Breath
13.Days Are Numbered
14.Beginning Of The End

This post is Dedicated to Mark Sheehan Who sang for Out Cold. RIP.
Mark passed away this weekend at the young age of 41. He left behind a immense & great history of music. Out Cold played brutally fast thrash/hardcore that through the years never really changed nor "progressed" in the shitty way that a lot of our favorite bands do. Think AC/DC, Slayer and Motorhead to get my point. They pretty much always stayed true to the path, and kept putting out great records that didn't leave their fans going huh??? Out Cold were the same way in that regard. Always thrashing on at one speed ahead.
Out Cold Formed in 1989 out of a Suburban MA. town that was about 30 miles from Boston. I hadn't heard them until maybe around 1994? Once I did, I wrote to them(sending a DOF tape)asking to do a split 7" with my band Devoid Of Faith. I got letter back from them saying that they couldn't because they had so many other things going on.
There really weren't to many bands doing what they were doing then. That time period was pretty stale for fast music. I never got to see Out Cold. Every time I did try or travel, they would cancel. After a while I sorta gave up. My thoughts go out to the people who knew him and were close to him. RIP buddy.

SHELL SHOCK-more gore LP(1988)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
1.final glory
2.lost in reality
3.circus of fear
4.spank your monkey
5.rock n roll all night
6.more gore
7.crank it
8.look before you leap
9.get with it
10.my brain is jelly

Its amazing that these dudes started out in 1980, and released a slew of eps, tapes and even another LP. I'd love to get my hands on that first ep. The band was from Louisiana New Orleans and on this tasty slab of wax, they play some cool crossover that keeps my head bobbing, and my legs twitching. I love these 80's records where the production has so much re verb on the drums and vox that it sounds like the band was playing in a cavern. Engineers were seriously clueless when recording bands like this, because it was sorta new, and they just didn't have much to reference it to.
This record was released on the Toxic Shock label(Raw Power, Inbred, and Zero Boys). The band broke up in 1988, and supposedly had a LP recorded for Metal Blade. If this is true, it remains unreleased.

HELSTAR-burning star LP(1984)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

1.burning star
2.towards the unknown
3.witches eye
4.run with the pack
5.leather lust
6.possession
7.the shadows of iga
8.Dracula's castle

When I re listened to Helstar I heard lots of Omen, a touch of Maiden, and even a c hair of Riot. This Texas metal band has forever been overlooked within the metal scene. I think they were another band that was sorta stuck between the power metal and speed metal scene of the mid eighties. We, the kids were sorta looking for stuff that was faster, heavier and sicker in every way shape and form. Things were becoming extreme in the metal scene, and I think bands like Helstar were sorta lost in that. Its funny because I think as a metalhead I appreciated this one so much more 5-10 years after it came out. The record is a true metal album with NO hints of anything else...just pure 1980's heavy metal.
This is high school shit for me. It reminds me Pounding beers in the bushes someplace in Latham NY on a friday night with friends like Dave Stevenson, and Pat J. Not a care in the world... metal and partying. One of my favorite record covers of the time period. Enjoy this one.

SERIAL KILLERS-roadside rendezvous LP(1987)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

1.graveyard serenade
2.the illegitimate son of Ed Gein
3.I am the king
4.love letter to Jamie Lee Curtis
5.blood n guts n rock n roll
6.teenage bloodlust
7.dead bitch
8.dark side of the serial killers
9.seial killer part two

These guys played pretty much poppy rock n roll with punk licks thrown in. The band is similiar to some early GG Allin in its lyrical approach and sound. Pretty certain that they were from Philadelphia. I recall the reason I bought the LP was because of the Condemned To Death connection. The guitarist of C2D(Tim Omen) had moved back to the East coast from S.F. and formed this "shock rock" band. My friend Zoran and I heard about it, and immediately felt the need to find it. I'd say the stuff was sorta ahead of its time. The only other bands I recall doing stuff like this at the time were the Mentors, and GG, and maybe Gwar. I think I was sorta in aw, and kind of revolted by the songs. My buddy Zoran on the other hand was able to find the humor in the record. It took me twenty years to pull this out of where I'd filed it, and to give it another spin. It was then that I understood how awesome of a record that this was(especially for the time period). These guys could get away with touring with the likes of Turbonegro if they were around today. I'm pretty sure this was the only LP they did, and later followed it up with a 7", then broke up.

VIPER-soldiers of sunrise LP(1987)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

1.knights of destruction
2.nightmares
3.the whipper
4.wings of evil
5.h.r.
6.soldiers of sunrise
7.signs of the night
8.killera
9.law of the sword

One of the earlier of the Brazilian metal bands I'd heard back in the day. The band def wasn't as heavy, fast or thrashing as Sepultura or as extreme as the likes of Sarcofago. I was drawn to this by the album cover art, and the fact that a review I'd read of it back then mentioned that it was an amateurish Brazilian sounding Iron Maiden. Anyone who knows me knows I've always been a Maiden freak. When I got this I was sorta bummed on the fact that it wasn't really that Maiden influenced. Only the vox really resemble that type of power metal(Maiden, Fates Warning), the music is more straight forward Speed metal(although some of the double leads might have the MaidenVibe). This one is Definitely not for for everyone who follows my blog. Its very metal, and has very little influence from any other realm.
The only other guys I knew back in the mid 80's that loved the Brazilian stuff the way I did were my Latham NY pals Dave Stevenson and Mark Szwarcberg. This stuff was always hard to find, and we paid ridiculous "import prices". Enjoy

SACRED DENIAL-life's been getting to me LP(1985)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

1.what religion
2.pro liar
3.better way to die
4.Why can't we be friends
5.we're all weird
6.Easter Sunday
7.born free
8.pissed at the world
9.life's getting to me
10.sacred denial
11.sticks and stones
12.man in a long coat

Sacred Denial were from Clifton NJ(a suburb that is very close to where I'm living now). The band had a pretty bad reputation, mainly due to the fact that they were from the great state of Jersey. New Jersey hardcore back then was known for its nerdy, cheese ball approach, and its wackiness that wasn't always as clever as the dudes playing it maybe thought it was. I avoided most NJ hardcore 'cept for maybe A.O.D. for a long time.
The crazy thing about this record is how unbelievably awesome it is. Its generic in every sense of the word, but just thrash's through as though it was Jerry's Kids "my world". Seriously... this is a real under the radar, ignored, obscure tooth and chip thrash record that should be enjoyed by hardcore lovers worldwide. "what religion" , "pissed at the world" and "pro-liar" are tasty, catchy rippers that are the stand outs for me on this yummy platter.
This is exactly what hardcore was meant to sound like in the 1980's. Don't be fooled by the bands other records though.. they just don't compare, not even by 50%.
I was turned onto these guys while living in S.F. by my neighbor and friend Eric Meade. Dude made me tapes loaded with some of the best hc I've to this day ever heard. Thanks Eric, I owe you for sure.
Enjoy.

Pro liar

president of the united states is what i'd like to be
I'll determine all your fates, a president's what I'd like to be
gonna build a brand new nation

I'll be very honest
I won't let you down

you'll be proud of me
Just you wait and see

I won't interfere with your private lives
in the white house I'll thrive

13.the ripper
14.wicked ways
15.paradise lost
16.gotham city

Fuck yeah... picked this tastey plater up for under $5 bucks recently. It is a record I've been looking to replace because my og is pretty beat. I Bought my copy at the record vault on Polk street in S.F.(The best store ever). I recall my friend Zoran and I went to get King Diamonds autograph, because he was doing an instore at the vault. We were both shocked at how down to earth and short the master of satanic metal was. At any rate that day I left the store with a King Diamond demo tape, his autograph on my Steve Caballero deck, and a copy of this overlooked crossover Hardcore classic.
Out Of Order were one of the early of the Chicago bands I'd heard back then along with Life's Sentence, the Effigies, and Articles Of Faith.
When I listen back to this I can hear lots of Negative Approach, early Sick Of It All, and even some Crumbsuckers. Its really an awesome and tough sounding hardcore record. I wish I'd gotten to see these boys live.

CENTAURUS s/t LP (1978)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

1.In the Mood
2.The Lych Way
3.The Rocker
4.On the Sands
5.If I Build My World for You
6.You Shake Me
7.To the Wireless
8.The Maiden Song
9.Cold Emotion

Okay, this post is a bit off the regular beat and path of my blog...
Years before Doug Moody started dipping his dick in early American hardcore/punk with his Mystic Records label, he was putting out records by metal, and hardrock bands. He used his Azra Record Label to put this stuff out. Centaurus were from Sunny California and played hardrock that was definetly influenced by the likes of early Van Halen, B.O.C., Deep Purple, etc. I think the fact the one of the band members on the back cover was wearing a Jaguar shirt got me to buy this LP. I was disappointed for sure back then, because they sounded nothing like the nwobhm sound that I was digging on. It took me some time to warm up to this one for sure. I'm sorta doubting that to many punks, and very few metal heads will dig this one, as its a obscure hardrock record much in the vein of say early Riot that just plain rocks.

KUBLAI KHAN-Annihilation LP (1987)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

1.Death breath
2.Mongrel horde
3.Down to the inferno
4.Liars dice
5.Passing away-Kublai Khan
6.Clash of the swords
7.Battle hymn (the centurian)

This is a dirty, hard and rugged under the radar thrash album, that if it had come out three years earlier, would have put these guys on the metal map. The guitarist-vocalist, Greg Handevidt was a one time early 1st tier member of Megadeth. It shows a lot on this recording. You can hear it in the vox and the riffage. This record reminds me of "killing is my business" in so many ways. The drums, the bass, the production, everything... The guitar riffing is fast, and chock full of cool 'lil licks that keep the neck bobbing through out. In my opinion This is the album that Megadeth should have made after peace sells.
Greg moved to California from Minnesota with David Ellefson to play music. The two lived next door to Dave Mustain, and they started Megadeth in the garage just after Dave was kicked out of Metallica. Greg quit the band before they even recorded, and moved back to Minnesota. That is where he started Kublai Khan. The band only released this one LP.
I'm definitely one of those dudes that bought this record back then due to the early Megadeth connection. Enjoy!

DAMIEN THORNE-the sign of the Jackal LP)1986)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
1.the sign of the jackal
2.fear of the dark
3.the ritual
4.grim reaper
5.hells reign
6.escape of die
7.sirens call
8.Damien's procession

These dirtheads were from Chicago, and played metal that was sort of in between that old traditional heavy metal sound(power metal, or nwobhm), and speed metal. I think there were a fair amount of these bands from the mid 1980's, that found in order for them to survive in what was happening in the metal scene(speed metal/thrash), that they needed to push the envelope a bit more. They needed to play faster, and heavier, changing their sound a little to fit in, or appeal to the youth. In my opinion Damien Thorne were one of those bands. Its awesome because it works well. I think Exciter, and Manowar were guilty of this as well.
I picked this up because of the band name, and the very cool cover art. The name Damien Thorne was that of the son of Satan in the infamous Omen books.
I read these before seeing the movies in around 8th grade. I recall being pretty disappointed by this record because it was to traditional sounding, and didn't have the punk/HC influence that I was now searching for when it came to metal/crossover. Years later I rediscovered it, and realized how much I loved traditional HM.
The Vocals are the stand out for me. They almost have a Rhett Forester sound to them(yup, Riot motherfuckers). The difference would be the high pitched screams that these guys pull off. Enjoy and comment.

V/A HEAVY METAL HEROES compilation LP (1980)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

1.TWISTED ACE-I won't surrender
2.GRIM REAPER-the reaper
3.JAGUAR-stormchild
4.SOLDIER-storm of steel
5.BITCHES SIN-strangers on the shore
6.METAL MIRROR-hardlife
7.the HANDSOME BEASTS-local heroes
8.BUFFALO-cold as night
9.EXPOZER-rock Japan
10.SPLIT BEAVER-runnin' wild
11.DRAGSTER-do it
12.WITCHFINDER GENERAL-rabies

I haven't updated the site in a while, because I've had some family shit that recently turned out tragically, and has just sort of made everything in my life that much harder to deal with.
This compilation LP is a very hard to find classic for sure. It was released on Heavy Metal Records(the Handsome Beasts, Witchfinder General, etc). Some of the bands went on to release ep's, LPs and so on... others just disappeared off into obscurity. This is a serious New Wave Of British Heavy Metal necessity, that has had me playing air guitar, and drums to it for years now. I've been blasting it in my man cave a lot recently. Great shit! The cover art is ridiculously amazing, and makes the record even that much better. My favorite tunes are by Metal Mirror, and Buffalo. The Metal Mirror song sounds so much like Motorhead, while the Split Beaver tune sounds a lot like a old AC/DC song. Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

PARADISE LOST lost paradise LP (1989)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
1.intro
2.deadly inner sense
3.paradise lost
4.our savior
5.rotting misery
6.frozen illusion
7.breeding fear
8.lost paradise

I bought this gem at the Music Shack in Albany in 1990. My friend Roger Van Dusen who was a die hard, elitist type political punk guy who pretty much hated metal was eying this one because of the cool looking sci fi cover art work... and because the LP was on Peaceville(which started off as a crust punk label). Somehow Roger convinced me to buy it. Dude lived next store to me on State street so he came over and listened to to the slab. I think it was the first metal album he'd ever heard that he actually could admit to liking. The next time I saw Rog he had laid out the cash for this "import", and was admitting to becoming fond of certain types of metal.
This was another record/band that was highly influential to me and the music I was playing in the early days of Mx, and even DOF to an extent.
Paradise Lost put out a few records after this one that I dug, but after a while they sort of went the Metallica route of sucking ass. What was great about these guys was that they never really blasted, or played brutally fast... they just chugged along nice and slow in a doomy sorta way, that made it easy to nod your head to.

INTRUDER a higher form of killing LP(1989)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

1.time of trouble
2.the martyr
3.genetic genocide
4.second chance
5.stepping stone
6.killing winds
7.the sentence is death
8.agents of the dark
9.anthipathy
10.Mr. death

Intruder were from the Southern United States(Nashville Tenn), and put out a few good records(and some clunkers as well). This is their second one, and by far my favorite. Although its not the most original thrash/speed metal record in the world, it sure is tight and easy to listen to because its just fucking awesome. The production is awesome, the lyrics are awesome, the guitars are awesome. You can hear the likes of Violence, Testament, Legacy, Exodus, Death Angel, even some Slayer riffs. I think the guitar solo's are what captured my attention with this Record. I wish I'd gotten to see this bros back in the day. They really did have the Bay Area vibe going for them in their sound.
My friends and I used to giggle and joke about how we'd imagine them talking to the crowd with a southern "twang" in between songs. Yeah, we were dumb, stoned and bored. I do think the version of "Stepping stone" that they do on here is ridiculously hilarious.
The record is a concept album based on the concept of Professor Fritz Huber's statement that "In no future war will the military be able to ignore the use of poisonous gas, It is A higher form of killing". This statement was made upon him receiving the Nobel Prize for chemistry in 1919. Dude was a Pioneer in Gas warfare. Anyway, Listening to this record, and the song Martyr got me thinking of 911 tonight. It was pretty hard to avoid with all that hoopla in the city today. The Albums concept has much to do with terrorism.

B.P. draft beer...not me LP (1986)

04.money well spent

13.we're the cops
14.my girlfriend is in a porno
15.theres no food
16.theme of the belching penguin
17.our children are missing
18.hang over

BP stood for Belching Penguins. Not the best name in the world, but worth a scoff and chuckle when you'd heard it slide off the tongue. Ridiculous and silly names were sorta the thing back then. These dudes were from Florida, and were as equally involved in building the scene there as their buddies No Fraud, and Pagan Faith. No fraud were prolly bigger, and definitely a bit more popular outside of Florida, but BP had a huge following as well locally. Both bands put their records out on No Clubs! Records.
This is one of those records that when it came out, and you were in the record shop looking at the cover(one of the coolest punk covers ever)... You flipped it over and saw that there were 18 songs, and you knew right then that you needed to buy this thrasher. The songs were fast and sloppy with yup silly and ridiculous song titles and lyrics.
I remember hearing the first song, with the drums, and the ride cymbal it just made me want to smash shit up. I wish I'd gotten to see these bros, it must have been a trip.

8.Sentir Ódio e Nada Mais
9.Assalto na Esquina
10.Não Há Outras Vidas
11.V.C.D.M.S.A.

Its been a while, my apologies to those who check the site regularly. This Is one of the earliest bands from Brazil that I remember hearing. For me this predates Sepultura by years. This album is a perfect crossover record.
The first thing I remember hearing by these guys was the split with Sub, shit was so punk...
Back in the day I would scour 'zines like Maximum Rock n Roll, Suburban Voice, Flipside, etc for any new bands that I'd never heard of before. The more underground, the better. I would read, and then write to the international punks in the classified sections hoping to tape trade, and hear something new from a country I knew very little about. It was exciting, and the process took time. Remember this was all snail mail, there was no internet.
Roberto was a Brazilian punk metal crossover freak whom I'd written to, and became pen pals/tape trading buddies with in around 1987. Dude would send me everything Brazilian. In return I'd tape him American stuff that I thought he would have a hard time finding. We did this for about 2 years. At any rate I'd sent Roberto a pretty big and expensive package. After months of not hearing anything from my friend,I wrote him asking if he'd gotten my stuff. Still no reply. Months had turned into almost a year. I kept writing, hoping I'd not been screwed like so many times before, and I was desperately in need of a new dose of foreign hardcore.
Months later I received a package. It was bigger then normal, it was LP sized, not like our regular tape sized packages. I eagerly opened the package to find this Ratos LP. There was a note in the package, so I of course proceeded to read it. It wasn't from Roberto, but instead his brother was writing me to tell me that Roberto had been killed on the streets of Sau Palo for "being different". This was shocking as hell to me. All I could do was write his brother back, give him my condolences, and thank him for thinking of me. As I listen to this I'm drinking Vodka and thinking of those times, and that friendship.

This is some top notch, tech savvy and intricate thrash metal that some what borders on death metal. The band were from Poland and should make my friends, "the Krak brothers"(Jason and Jared Krak) quite proud of their Polish heritage. This is the bands second release, and you can tell the music is a bit different from the first record as the band had a line up change, loosing both the singer and bass player. I actually prefer this record to the first, and absolutely love the song "i spit in your face", its seriously so brutal, and makes me want to spit in peoples faces.
I originally got my copy of this record from a friend I grew up with and played music with in Latham NY. Mark S. played bass in Horrid Blessing, and was someone whom I'd discovered, and enjoyed lots of underground metal with in the early to mid 1980's. Mark went on to join the marines, and before he was deployed to the first Gulf war he gave me some of his metal records.
A fond memory I have of Mark is him asking me to go to his recruiters with him before being deployed because he was "nervous". Of course it was sort of a ploy to try an get me to join up with him. I went with my buddy not having any idea he was trying to get me involved. When we got there The recruiter asked me what I did for a living.... I told him I was a plumber. His response was "Nathan, we have plumbing in the marines, I can make you a journeymen in 3 years". My response was simple, "what, digging shit holes to use for toilets in the sand?" The conversation was over.
There is also a Polish version of this record.
