These guys were a obscure hardcore punk band from San Antonio Texas. I first heard them in the late 80's on the compilation LP "cottage cheese from the lips of death". From what I know they only appeared on that comp, and this 7" ep. I think people from outside the area were pretty offended by the bands record cover, record title, and song titles/lyrics. From what I've heard people from the area, and people that knew them knew that this record was a total joke, and they were just trying to have fun(yeah I know, at womens expense), and trying to offend people. It's no wonder people could give two shits about this record... their loss, because this record is a heafty punk rock ripper.

  2. Any idea how many copies were made? Seems like this one turns up quite frequently. I've had three or four copies over the years.

  3. I'd guess around 500 copies. Are you from Texas? I'm in Austin where the record label was, and I've only seen this once. great stuff. I need a copy if you still have an extra.

  6. With the frequency I've spotted Bang Gang 7"s, I'd venture that many more than 500 were made. Gotta be at least 1,000. Would be awesome if a band member could set us straight.

  8. I always heard that this was members of the HICKOIDS which would mke sens since it was on the label they did.
Good record for sure, I have come across a handful in my time, 500-1000 would be my guess on press run.

  10. am i the only one who would be surprised is more than 500 of these were pressed? i know it comes up pretty often, but with a cover like that, onlly a nerd, a die hard, or a fool would file this anywhere but the $1 bin, where most of the copies probably are today.

the most ridiculous thing about the record is not the front cover, but rather the back...sure, the "She Ran..." might get your attention, but the "But We Ran Faster!" when you flip the record over is WAY more potentially offensive! A great fkkn record, you just have to put your PC earmuffs on.
Hell man, I still listen to "You Got, I Want"

  14. This was Jeff Smith and Richard Hayes later in the the Hickoids, Brad Parks from SPLEEN and San Antonio's Raging Woodies. They could never decide what to play and except for Brad were always very drunk. Another great song by them was "Just a Dork" which featured the immortal lines, "Sitting in the bathtub cutting farts. You always laugh when the bubbles come up." Richard and Jeff were already living in Austin at the time.

  15. The Bang Gang was around for barely a year. Late '82 thru '83. Richard's bro Arthur (The Next) drummed for the band. They also had a second guitarist for awhile. It's true those guys were uber-drunks alot of the time. Richard told me he was passed out on the studio floor when "Dickhead" was being mixed. Managed to do an East Coast tour if ya can believe that. Bang Gang were the first Punk Rock band to play at S.A.'s infamous Taco Land.

Jeff Smith runs Saustex Media and still performs in The Hickoids w/ Davy Jones.

  16. I think musicians identifying with or inspired by punk also pursued a broad range of other variations, giving rise to post-punk and the alternative rock movement.
