These guys played pretty much poppy rock n roll with punk licks thrown in. The band is similiar to some early GG Allin in its lyrical approach and sound. Pretty certain that they were from Philadelphia. I recall the reason I bought the LP was because of the Condemned To Death connection. The guitarist of C2D(Tim Omen) had moved back to the East coast from S.F. and formed this "shock rock" band. My friend Zoran and I heard about it, and immediately felt the need to find it. I'd say the stuff was sorta ahead of its time. The only other bands I recall doing stuff like this at the time were the Mentors, and GG, and maybe Gwar. I think I was sorta in aw, and kind of revolted by the songs. My buddy Zoran on the other hand was able to find the humor in the record. It took me twenty years to pull this out of where I'd filed it, and to give it another spin. It was then that I understood how awesome of a record that this was(especially for the time period). These guys could get away with touring with the likes of Turbonegro if they were around today. I'm pretty sure this was the only LP they did, and later followed it up with a 7", then broke up.

  1. That follow up 7" came with a tiny bag of dirt from the yard of serial killer Gary Heidnick. Not sure if I spelled that right. Yes, the band was from Philly.

  4. Damn--I was going to post this one. I remember these guys when they were around and met the guitar player a few months back. Firstly, the 7" was before the LP + it came with a sample of dirt from Heidnicks house. Second, they were contemporaries with Gwar and had a similar stage show like Gwar's, but Gwar was better organized and had a crew to give them support, while this band was just playing for fun and wasn't able to tour. Part of the act involved a fake abortion on stage and the singer would walk around with this fake aborted fetus and blood all over him. They were from Philly.

  7. Just to set the record straight I thought I'd correct a couple things. I mixed and produced both the album and the single, as well as managed the band, so this is basically as first person as you're gonna get. Frist of all, the album came out about 18 months before the single. And the band had a full stage show, albeit a bit more disorganized than Gwar and a bit Spinal Tap-esque at times than we all would have cared for. Nonetheless, in the band's four year run (Jan 1986-Jan 1990), they played Philly and the surrounding area more than 50 times and did two full US tours.

    1. If I’m not wrong Robin played bass in the band although I’m sure she replaced the original bassist,
      I might be completely wrong!
Oh yeah, the band itself was awesome!! Went to as many gigs I could around Philly, the ones at Revival and Baccanal stand out!

  8. Thank you so much for giving me a huge chunk of my teenaged soul back. I bought a cassette of this in Philly when I was about sixteen years old. On breaks from school, when I'd come home to my desolate little Colorado cow-town, I'd tear around on the back roads, blasting this out the windows of my grotty white station wagon, and screaming along at the top of my lungs.

The tape wore out more than a decade ago, and I've been looking for it ever since.

  9. These guys played the Court Tavern (New Jersey) with the Butthole Surfers & Pleased Youth in the summer of 86. That was a fucking SHOW...

    1. I was at this show, and remember the crowd fucking HATING The Serial Killers by the time their set was through. This hate had little to do with the music.

The band threw meat out into the crowd, which got squashed into a meaty slime pulp all over the floor of the club by the stage. The place was packed and hot as balls, people were slipping and falling into the meat-sweat slime.

      Nasty, that was.

    2. I was also at this show, and I was up front. Here's how it went down: Most of the crowd had never seen Serial Killers. Even though they were semi-local, New Brunswick and North Jersey had its own scene. Pleased Youth were on the bill, and everyone at The Court was very familiar with them. Serial Killers took the stage, and if I recall correctly, they all had black bondage masks on and also had matching Parisian tourist black and white striped shirts on. Their vibe was evil, something I hadn't seen the likes of before. They ripped through a set. I don't remember many details about the set, other than I remember the evil vibe. At the end of the set, a man in a raincoat approached the singer, as if he was going to attack him. Another gent ran toward the man in the raincoat and thrust a huge hunting knife into his gut. He, and about 6 people from the front of the crowd reached into the stab wound and proceeded to rip the raincoat man's guts out and throw them everywhere. They then tackled him and a satanic blood ritual sacrifice commenced. Violent, crazed gut-hungry male AND female fiends were reaching into the man's gut, ripping out sinew, muscle, and organs, and throwing them at the horrified crowd. At this point, the patrons were running in circles, knocking each other to the floor in a complete panic, running for the exits. Slipping and falling on the now blood and organ soaked concrete floor. Once I realized it was staged, and not an actual MURDER, I fucking went into hysterical laughter. I don't remember anyone hating them, as ChrisO has stated above, however, I remember everyone wanting to stab and disembowel Butthole Surfers for taking what seemed like 15 hours to take the stage.

  11. Hell yeah!! Been looking for a digital rip of this for at least 10-15 years. Used to have it on cassette and would drive my then-girlfriend nuts by singing "Dead Bitch" over and over. Thank you.

  14. It's an awesome album, and "dead bitch" is the best song. Absolutely.

By the way, why you don't post something about Joydivision band... they were the best in the 80's and it would be nice if you can add their singles.

  15. Wasn't living in the area at the time of Serial Killers but was a best friend of Dan Bess who played drums for them. He still has concert bulletins from their shows and an article in People magazine from Austrailia. Was a big part of his life. Good dude, he's an old hippie. Still has long hair, looks like Iggy Pop. 16. I saw them perform in the basement of an abandoned frathouse in University City called the Crypt. It was the most dangerous show I've ever been to just because the venue was basically a tenement. There was empty beer bottles EVERYWHERE, trash -- not to mention lots and lots of drugs going on! The show began with the "Junior Miss Crypt Pageant" and ended with a bonafide riot when an audience member started touching Tim the Strangler's guitar while he was playing it. When my friends and I finally got out of that place, we blew our noses and all of us literally had black in the tissue from all of the dirt in that filthy house. Not the best show I ever attended, but definitely memorable!

  17. I remember this album! Many moons ago, I hung out at this biker bar in Los Angeles, CA and the bartender there was selling the tape. She claimed to be their manager - tho given they were from Philly, I kinda find that hard to believe. But that was one great album...

  18. Anyone have this on mp3? I have the cassette as well as lp and the 7 inch but don't have the means to transfer over to my computer.
What I mean by "means" is that I am lazy and rather have someone do the work and I reap the benefits from the comforts of my favorite easy chair.
