This post is inspired by my excitement of seeing Motorhead again in Sept. at Roseland in NYC.
Warfare are a crossover fans wet dream for sure. They were able to take the best parts of bands such as Tank, Motorhead, and Venom, throw them in a blender and out came a raw, catchy metal infused Discharged style punk band. It's seriously beautiful man. The song "total Armageddon" is a classic rager for sure, and always has me playing air drums for the entire 6 minutes of the song. I guess the band suffered from non popularity, or rather, obscurity due to the Drummer doing the lead vox. This really was a no no back then, and Seemed to really kill it for any metal band in the 80's who tried this task. The drummer/vocalist's name was Evo, and he was also in such punk bands as the Blood, Major Accident, and the Angelic Upstarts.
This is the bands first full length, and it was produced by Tank's Algy Ward. Most metal heads I knew growing up had a certain disdain for Warfare. I'm not really sure why, perhaps the rawness, and the Discharge styled drumming wasn't always metal enough for certain purists. What ever the case this shit is noisy, loud and raw. Turn It Up, and please Comment!

  3. Love this album/band. Lemmy produced the second album (Metal Anarchy) and Cronos produced the third (Mayhem, Fuckin' Mayhem).

Cool shit...nothing like getting all your influences to produce your albums.

  4. Sweet. Bulldozer--another band that I'd throw in there with Motorhead, Venom, Tank. Good stuff.

  9. I saw them play on the back of a flat bed lorry outside the Hammersmith Odeon before the Venom Gig in '84. The cops turned up and the lorry sped off (hitting a couple of cars in the process!) My mate got the remains of the guitarists guitar!! He He Happy days.

They did a great version of 2 Tribes (The metal noise mix) I have on 12". Also my copy of Pure Filth came with a bonus 7" ep. Did anyone get that too?

  12. Fuck yes!! I came across one of these guy's EPs at the local record store in SLC and I had never heard of them. I bought it because it looked thrash, and I knew I had heard the name before. I was not disappointed, this shit rocks hard! Rad riffs and a nice raw punky edge, good shit. I haven't been able to find any more of their shit anywhere though. Have you posted any more on here? If not you should! Cheers.

  18. Sounds pretty damn awesome. But still I wouldn't give it all the stars. Am more of a purist and yes it is not hitting the right spot, and that the drummer also works the vocals is cool but no fitting in a metal band
