So bummed. I Destroyed two Cirith Ungol LPs Last night, after leaving them to close to a radiator. To much bourbon I guess. This ruined my day for sure. I've had both these records since I was 17 years old. This Means I'm looking for copies of both "king of the dead" and "frost and fire". It means I'll be paying lots of money on the ebay machine, so please view and bid on some auctions I have up right now. If you have copies of these LPs and want to part and or trade them, please get in touch. Thanks. Nate

When my first boy was only a few months old, I was holding him while looking at records. I held up the first infest 7". My boy somehow clamped onto it hard and wouldn't let go. He was waving it around laughing, as I am gingerly trying to pry it from his chubby little fingers. Luckily I got it away without too much damage (to either).
ReplyDeleteActually Mat spent the night in the klink after that happened for giving his 6 month old a black eye!!
ReplyDeleteUp until now he never told me why I wasn't allowed to meet his girls.
ReplyDeleteI saw a copy of frost and fire at a local record hippie record shop 3 days ago, I'll go there tomorrow and check if they still got it and how much they'd want for it if they still have it in case you still want it!
ReplyDeleteDamn dude that fuckin sucks. My condolences go out to ya
ReplyDeleteSorry man. i can relate for sure. A while back i dropped and fucked up my copies of Excel "Split Image" And No Mercy "Widespread Blood shed" at once (guess thats what i get for holding em for no other reason than to Gaze lovingly into the eyes of the liquid demon guy on the Excel cover) . DId get another copy of Excel which is my favorite of the two, but still I loved the No Mercy record too and can't find it to save my life. I'm religiously ANTI- Ebay though so its that much harder for me..
ReplyDeleteAnywho IVE seen a few copies of King Of the Dead here an there on the web - ranging from 40, 45 bones. Don't really have any idea what price range your lookin for. but if u want i'll be glad to see if I can track down where I saw em again.
NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteInfest frisbees, people would still pay good money for a broken wreck-ord.
ReplyDeleteI've lucked out and been pretty accident free for many many years when it came to my wax.
When I lived in a house in West Albany(the Monster X house), I one day went to kneel down in my bedroom, and noticed my knees got wet. When I further investigated I realized that there was a leak in the copper radiator pipes for the heat, and it was pissing water into the carpet, saturating most of the room. At this point in my life I used to leave out like a 100 x LPs that I was always listening to (you know, heavy rotation). These records sat in front of my stereo on the floor. Somehow, the water didn't reach them.
This is when we stopped paying rent, and squatted the place for a few months.

i feel your pain bro! i had searched and searched for the bgk jonestown aloha lp for years and finally persuaded my friend to let go of one of his copies (yes, that bastard had two). so there i was, lp in hand, so i threw it in my car and went into this party where we met and he handed it off to me. later that night i was wrecked and jumped into my car to split managing to sit right on it and crack it. oh well, i'm on the search again.
ReplyDeletei had a friend that lost a whole crate of records because he left them under an air conditioner that busted in the night and leaked water all over them. it's sad watching a grown man cry but i understand...i even remember that it must of been the "p" crate cause there were poison idea record covers strewn about the living room that he was trying to dry. sorry, man.

ReplyDeleteAnother nice variation of the bummed-theme would be forgetting records in shady bars. A few years ago I went to a bar with some folks and had a bag with one of these ultra rare INFEST 12ers we put out on 2-colored wax with me. Well, a couple beers later I left the place with some extra alcohol in my blood but of course forgot the bag. When I called the place the day after, they said they hadn't seen my bag. Somebody really lucky must have found it. Goes for a couple $$$ on ebay, that thing. And I didn't even keep one of them 2-colored wax pressings for myself (in fact, I only kept the gold vinyl mailorder version and sold all other variations). I guess I suck as a collector of own material.
ReplyDeleteAlcohol... I still love it.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I blame you for my destruction Erich, as I lost those two fucking records out after reading your blog. Listened to king of the dead 3 x in a row while drinking bourbon, then decided I needed to re hear frost after some years....
I still need these if anyone has an extra copy. I have money
Nate
im pretty sure i have both those records... i would be willing to part with them.
ReplyDeletecan you e mail me or touch base? I'd love to get them. Nate

Dude I am looking for these records as well. Vintage Vinyl in Fords NJ which is a local spot for me has them for sale on ebay. Pisses me off when record stores sell all the good shit on the net.
ReplyDeleteI've got "King of the Dead" in near mint condition.
ReplyDeleteI'm willing to part with it finally after 24 years because I'm digitizing everything and lightening my load for travel purposes. I also have the following vinyls (most in near mint condition) that may be of interest to other collector's. This is painful, but I'm tired of maintaining a working turntable just for these few classics...
